If you are looking for a role as a Sales Assistant, you may have had some previous experience in a retail environment or you could be looking to break into this world and have the right personality for a sales role.

As a Sales Assistant you will be selling products to customers and providing advice and suggestions to customers on what they should be buying. You will have a hand in the merchandising of the store and how the store looks so it is important to keep this in this manner at all times. You will need to be aware of any offers the store has and to be able to push these offers towards your customers.
You will be a confident communicator to do this role and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers whilst remaining enthusiastic and positive in your work.

I enjoy working in a Sales role and introducing customers to new products that I am selling. I like working to targets as I feel this keeps me focused on how I am progressing and likes to keep me striving for new challenges.

I am a real people person, I enjoy talking to people and feel that this is a reason that I am able to talk easily to customers coming into a store. I feel that I have quite a bit of experience in retail and how a store works and what the processes and procedures are for cleaning the store, opening up, till work etc.

I am enthusiastic, dedicated and motivated in my work. I like coming to work and like to see how I progress for myself and the company in which I work.

In my role as Sales Assistant, I serve customers and provide recommendations about products they may want to buy. My responsibilities include:

  • Getting the store ready for new promotions
  • Advising customers on the right products for them, what suits them etc
  • Taking payments on the till
  • Cashing up
  • Dealing with returns, credit notes etc
  • Helping with the in store merchandising
  • Talking to head office over any merchandising, customer service issues
  • Taking in deliveries, requesting stock and liaising with the warehouse.

QUALIFICATIONS

University, College, School – For all include titles/subjects and qualifications.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer skills – MS Office, Excel??? Anything relevant, industry specific packages?
Any Customer Service training or retail sales, in what products etc.
