If you are looking to work in a Gym as a receptionist, then you will need to be good with people and to have a background in a reception job or customer services. As a Gym receptionist you will be answering calls from customers who could be looking to book on a class in the gym, join for membership, ask for general advice, down to a customer who has lost something at the gym on a previous visit.
