If you are interested in applying for a role as a Zookeeper then you will have a keen interest in zoo animals and maybe done some work experience with animals before. As a zoo keeper you will be expected to look after and care for the animals – clearing out their bedding, where they sleep, their house, feed them, give any medication that they may be on, make sure they get enough fresh air, exercise and generally ensure that they are looked after and treated very well in their home at the zoo.
You will need to be interested in animals, you may want to concentrate on a particular species and become a specialist but you will work with all the other zoo keepers to ensure that the animals are well looked after and enjoy their life at the zoo and continue to thrive in that society.

Mrs Jane Smith
Dear Mrs Smith
Application for the role of Zoo Keeper
I would like to apply for the role of zoo keeper which I have seen advertised in (what publication, when and what job reference).
I have always had a keen interest in working with animals and following my work experience with animals at (where, when and what did you do) I wanted to ensure that I do this role as my career choice.
I have been interested in working with elephants and rhinos for a long time so would enjoy being closer to any of the animals at (what name of) zoo. I am prepared to learn as much as I can and I am happy to do whatever training is needed to ensure that I am successful in my role.
Please find enclosed my CV, it details my skills and past experiences but should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and CV.
