To be an insurance risk surveyor you will need to come from a background such as a surveyor, health and safety or insurance background. To do this role you will survey sites, buildings, transport etc to assess their need for insurance and work closely with the insurance underwriters to establish the terms of the insurance.
Usually, an insurance risk surveyor works in one department focusing on burglary and theft or fire claims or accident claims and specialises in this area.
