Dear Mr Smith,

Joe Bloggs recommended that I contact you regarding the current 40 hour vacancy for a Shift Manager position in your Stop ‘n’ Shop store. With my experience in retail, customer service, and people management, I believe I could be considered as an excellent candidate for this position.

As you will see from my CV, I have over three years of experience working within a retail environment. In my current job, I regularly assist the store manager with administrative tasks as a reward for my hard work with the company. However, the role of shift manager does not exist here with the store being so small, and therefore I seek a new challenge elsewhere.
