A Retail Security Officer’s main responsibility is to keep under control stock, staff and customers within a shop or general retail activity. You should be able to prevent any theft or damage in the shop and -in case of need – you could also be expected to help customers in need.
Apart from this surveying activity, you are required to complete and make official notes and reports in case of an accident that happened in the shop.
Essential skills are customer service and communication: you will be in full contact with customers, shop assistants. Also, problem solving and flexibility are required abilities: if you see strange movements or suspicious people you need to be fast and efficient in taking the right decision at the right time.
Please be aware that in some States a Guard License is required, as well as computer skills as you may utilize innovative devices and technologies at sites.
