If you are looking to apply for a job at Sainsbury’s then it is important to not only know and understand the role that they are recruiting for but also to do your research into Sainsbury’s as a company.

Sainsbury’s is one of the largest supermarket retailers selling grocery items, homeware, electrical goods and clothing to the general public. Sainsbury’s was born by John James Sainsbury in London in 1869. There are approximately 1,106 supermarkets in total and they employ over 157,000 people. As with all the supermarkets they target shoppers of the mid to high price range but in recent years they have allowed themselves to be more competitive and brought in a lower price (Basics) range to open up their customers to all shoppers.

My background is in a retail capacity working at store level and I was very interested to see the position you have advertised with your company and I would very much like to do this role.

I enjoy working in retail with customers and feel that I have got excellent customer service skills and pick up new things quickly. I am experienced in operating a till, I have worked in different departments and enjoy learning new products and ways of operating.

I am flexible in the hours and days that I work and am always happy to help with extra shifts as required. I am a car owner so I would travel to work by car so do not have to rely on public transport.

I am an organised and efficient person seeking a fresh challenge and am very interested in the role that you have advertised.
