A pharmacy technician helps the pharmacist in selecting the medications and weighing the correct amounts out and getting the prescriptions ready for the pharmacist to sign off.
You will need a good standard of education and in particular in Sciences. You can sometimes get into the role through an apprenticeship and train to be a pharmacist.
You will need to be thorough and be able to think carefully as you will be dealing with many different products.
Salaries for Pharmacy Technicians
Pharmacy technicians start earning between £18,838 and £22,016 a year and then once they gain more experience and increase their Band Level in the NHS system then they are earning more. Experienced technicians will earn between £21,388 and £27,901 which is Band 5.

I have always had a keen interest in the Sciences through school and would be very interested in learning all about the pharmaceutical industry.

I also understand there will be a big learning curve in terms of knowing the names of the medications and I am prepared to do any learning I need to outside of work.
