Nurse Manager Cover Letter Example

Nurse Managers are Registered Nurses looking for the next stage in their by managing teams of nursing staff. It is helpful to already have some management experience but this is not always essential if you can demonstrate that you have the necessary skills for the role. It is essential to have strong communication skills and be a motivational, encouraging leader. The ability to plan rotas and manage finances is essential, along with good IT skills and an in-depth understanding of clinical procedures. Hours can be long and the work is demanding, so it is important to be resilient and have a good standard of physical health and fitness as well as a willingness to work flexible hours. Due to the sensitive nature of the work you will need to be compassionate and caring and able to communicate clearly to patients and colleagues.

As you will see from my CV, I am a qualified RGN with many years’ experience of clinical work. I have undertaken senior roles, managing rotas and mentoring junior staff, and I have excellent organisational and IT skills. I am a natural leader who is motivational, supportive and calm under pressure and I have a good understanding of different management techniques. Having spent several years as an RGN I am a strong communicator with empathy for others and the ability to put people at ease even in difficult circumstances.

I am hard working and reliable with an exemplary attendance record and am used to working long and antisocial hours.

I feel I will make a strong contribution to the department and am looking forward to the opportunity to discuss my experience with you in more detail.
