An IT Assistant will provide support to an IT department and do roles such as telephone support, building and setting up computers, setting up new email addresses, sorting printer and equipment problems etc.

The role of IT Assistant is a starting block and a huge learning curve for anyone wanting a career in IT. To gain entry you may have done a qualification at a College or University but you could gain entry at an entry level from having a keen interest in IT from a personal perspective.

In my role as IT Assistant, I provide support to my Manager and the team within the company on IT Support issues. My responsibilities include:

Providing IT Support on-site and over the telephone
Setting up email accounts and system accounts for staff
Fixing IT problems
Looking after all equipment in the company
Arranging for replacements on faulty equipment
Ordering stock such as ink etc that is required for the business.
QUALIFICATIONS
University, College, School – For all include titles/subjects and qualifications.

Computer skills – MS Office, Excel??? (Think about what you have used and also what you can provide support on as this would be of interest to an employer)
Training courses that you have been on yourself.
