If you have found a role as a Diplomatic Service Officer which you would like to apply for then you should be aware that the role involves protecting British people abroad, their interests and providing support and advice to officials as required.
You must have excellent communication skills to do this role as well as being able to think clearly and carefully as some situations may be of a delicate nature. A career with the Foreign Office usually requires you to work in the UK for a period of 3 years prior to being able to take a post abroad but this is good grounding and experience for a long career.
If you have seen a role in which you would like to apply for, please see the below covering letter you can use as a guide.
