CV Example: Web Designer

Updated on: January 14, 2022

A web designer had to make new websites from scratch and so will need to have good design skills. These may be from doing a design course or from experience. Wherever they are from, make sure they get a mention. The job will involve discussing requirements with customers and making sure that what is designed fits with what they want. Any past experience of customer facing roles will be worth a mention but also any work that involved listening to what they wanted and providing them with a solution. It may be necessary to reach deadlines, as customers may need work done in a certain time period and so evidence of the ability to do this will be good. Also being able to show any past design experience or computer experience or a combination of both, if no actual web design experience is there would be very useful on the CV.

Work History

January 2022 – Present
Web Designer, Freelance, London
As a freelance Web Designer, it was my duty to actively seek clients requiring web design services. I achieved this through advertising and also actively scanning websites that looked a little dated and offering my services. I would then meet with the client in person or via Skype or Phone, and discuss the project with them. I would then create a template for them to look at, and insert their content into that if they were happy with it.

January 2018- January 2020
Web Designer, Web Wide World, London.
As a web designer in this busy office, it was my duty to create front pages for clients’ websites. I would look at the existing layout and see where improvements and upgrades could be made, and then design a page to show the client so that if they liked it, I could pass it to the continuation team to complete the rest of the site.

January 2017 – January 2018
Web Designer, Blue Communications, London.
As a web designer for a large Mobile Phone and Broadband provider, I was kept busy with ever changing web content to create. It would mostly be updating of prices and information, although occasionally new products, services and promotions would see me creating a page from scratch.
