If you are looking to be a building control officer then you will have normally completed a qualification in Building control to be able to assess whether a building site is following the correct procedures and regulations when doing its building project. You will check for public health and fire regulations and need to be able to explain to customers how things need to be followed and what they need to be doing to achieve the correct regulations.
Building control officers can earn around £21,000 to £26,000 a year. Once you have experience then your earnings can be between £27,000 and £38,000 a year. Senior officers can earn up to £50,000 a year. Good problem-solving, excellent communication and negotiating skills are essential if you want to be a building control officer.
