If you are interested in being a babysitter then you will almost definitely need to have some previous experience. It will depend on the ages of the children you are looking to babysit for but you will need to be reliable, trustworthy and be able to be strict but fair and remain calm and patient.
You may have to do a first aid course and have a CRB check to ensure that you can be left with children and able to supervise them. Normally you get into babysitting through a family friend or some other situation and if so then the above may not apply, that would be more suited to someone the family were not aware of but best to bear it in mind.
If you have found a role in which you want to apply for, please see the below covering letter which you can use as a guide.

Application for the role of Babysitter
I would like to apply for the role of Babysitter that you have been advertising in (which publication and when).
I have spent a lot of time with children having looked after my family’s children over the years for evenings and afternoons. I have been involved in doing activities with children such as drawing and painting and have taken them to the park and for walks.
I understand that the role of a babysitter is a very important one and that I need to be very responsible to do this role well.
I am organised and thorough, I have a calm and patient manner and I understand the dangers around children and what they should and should not be doing.
I have enclosed my CV for your consideration. Should you be interested in my skills, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and CV, I look forward to hearing from you.
